Personal Log, Starfleet Officer Morgan Morris

Stardate 133437.02

This is my first official log entry since I was assigned to my post. I am en route to Deep Space 9. I knew this day would come, but somehow it feels surreal now that I’m actually in transit. The stars are a blur outside the shuttle window, just streaks of light and color as we warp through space. This journey represents the culmination of years of work, discipline, and sacrifice.

I suppose my Starfleet training has fully prepared me, but there’s a weight to the assignment on Midway. It’s a strategic, cultural, and sometimes volatile hub in the Alpha Quadrant. The station has history—so many legendary officers have served there. I can only hope to contribute in a meaningful way, carrying forward their legacy.

I've been reviewing medical reports and protocols on the Bajoran Wormhole and how exposure to certain phenomena there can affect the crew. It’s fascinating and a bit intimidating; I’ll have to be at my best. There’s a tension between excitement and trepidation. My role as a first officer is not only to heal but to anticipate, to prevent, and to make sure our personnel and allies are protected, especially in an area with as much interstellar traffic as DS9.

In a few hours, we’ll be docking, and I’ll officially report in. Whatever happens next, I know that this journey marks the beginning of a chapter where everything I’ve learned will be tested.
